Retrospectical Episode 05 - Privacy on the Internet, Net Neutrality Featured

Published in Retrospectical Podcast

This week's retrospectical episode features a discussion about internet security. We start with going over what companies collect from you online and why they do that. Much of this is mostly harmless - browser data, browsing habits & history - most of it is information that you're freely giving out anyways. We also talked about what they do with this data and some of the risks associated with it.

Next we dive into the issue of net neutrality. This has been a hot-button issue lately in Washington and around the country really. We talked about what it is, what the recent rulings have been and give our take on what's going on. Finally, we talked about Edward Snowden and all of the recent revelations from what he released concerning the NSA's "upstream" monitoring of nearly all electronic communications.
